Pupil Premium

At Dunchurch Boughton CofE Infant Academy and Nursery, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, achieve and participate fully in school life, regardless of their background or circumstances.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to help schools improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and reduce barriers to learning. This funding enables us to provide targeted support, enrichment opportunities and high-quality provision that helps all children succeed both academically and personally.

Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for:

  • Children who are eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals.
  • Children who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years (Ever 6).
  • Children who are looked after by a local authority.
  • Children who were previously looked after and have since been adopted or left care through a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or residence order.
  • Children with a parent serving in the Armed Forces.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals. However, if your family receives certain benefits, it is still important to register for benefits-related Free School Meals.

Registering may enable the school to receive valuable additional funding through the Pupil Premium, which helps us provide extra support and opportunities for eligible children.

In Warwickshire, applications can be made through Warwickshire County Council using the link below:

How We Use Pupil Premium Funding

Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to ensure that eligible pupils have access to the support, experiences and opportunities they need to thrive. This may include:

  • Additional teaching and targeted intervention programmes.
  • Speech, language and communication support.
  • Emotional wellbeing and pastoral support.
  • Attendance and family support.
  • Access to educational visits, enrichment activities and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Resources and equipment to support learning.
  • Support during key transition points.

Our approach is informed by evidence-based practice and is reviewed regularly to ensure that funding has the greatest possible impact on children's achievement, wellbeing and wider development.
