Rewards
At Dunchurch Infants, we believe that recognising positive behaviour, effort and kindness helps children to flourish. Our rewards are designed to celebrate children who follow our school rules Ready, Respect, Safe and who demonstrate our Christian values and learning behaviours.
Everyday Praise
- Staff give frequent verbal praise to encourage effort, kindness, and positive behaviour.
- Stickers may also be given as an extra way to acknowledge children who are trying their best.
Recognition Board
- Every classroom has a recognition board that celebrates a chosen learning behaviour or rule (e.g., superb sitting, effort, concentration).
- Children’s names are added when they show the focus behaviour.
- The aim is for every child to get their name on the board.
- When this happens, the class has a simple celebration together.
Weekly Awards
- Class Attendance Award – celebrated in collective worship to promote good attendance.
- Gold Book Awards – children nominated for showing the half‑term’s Christian value. Names are read in collective worship and children receive a sticker.
- Learning Behaviour of the Week Certificate – one child per class is recognised for demonstrating the half‑term’s learning behaviour.
- Green Award – given to the class with the tidiest classroom, chosen by the caretaker.
- Celebration Sharing – children can bring certificates, medals or trophies from home to share their achievements.
- Hot Chocolate Friday – one child per class who has gone “over and above” in following rules and values is invited for hot chocolate with the Headteacher.
Rewards Throughout the Week
- Caught Doing the Right Thing – midday supervisors give raffle tickets at lunchtime for positive behaviour.
- Tickets go into a class pot.
- A winner from each class is chosen weekly for a certificate.
- All tickets go into a whole‑school pot, and every half term one winner receives a prize.
- Wow Work – children are chosen to show a piece of proud work to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.
