Our Academy Governance Committee

Welcome to the Governor section of the Dunchurch Boughton CofE Infant Academy & Nursery website.

My role is to work with the other Governors, and the school staff to ensure that every child in the Nursery and School achieves their full potential.

We have an excellent and committed Academy Governance Committee here, from a range of backgrounds, each of us offering a wealth of knowledge and expertise. The Headteachers and the Senior Leadership Team manage the school on a day to day basis and the Governors meet regularly, as necessary, to look at specific projects, developments and to monitor the work of the school.

We support and challenge the staff to make sure that all the children are making good progress, that everyone is safe in school and that all legal requirements are adhered to.

We celebrate the achievements of children and staff, and do our best to make sure that Dunchurch Boughton C of E Infant Academy and Nursery nurtures lifelong learners.

I am always happy to hear from parents and other members of the local community – both in terms of what we are doing well, and also about things we could do better.  Please contact me via the School Office.

Danielle Read

I am the Co-Headteacher of Dunchurch Boughton CofE Infant Academy and Nursery, following 16 years working at the Junior school as Literacy Lead, Assistant Head, Deputy Head and finally Head of School. I have led many different aspects of school improvement and I am passionate about making sure children having a positive school experience. I completed a degree in Management Sciences at Warwick University, before working for Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service with responsibility for data. I then followed my ultimate goal of becoming a school leader by completing a PGCE at the University of East Anglia and a Masters in Education back at Warwick. More recently I have engaged with the NPQH leadership qualification. I have previous experience of governorship, having held the role of Staff Governor at Dunchurch Boughton Junior School and then attending meetings as an observer in my role as Deputy and Head of School.

I began my working life teaching Geography and Maths - teaching then was a whole different ball game – textbooks, no internet and a lot less monitoring. After a career change, I relocated to the Midlands to work in construction, training as a surveyor. I moved to Dunchurch 25 years ago with my family, both my children attended the Nursey, Infant and Junior schools and I became a governor when my oldest was at the Infants. I have enjoyed supporting the schools through the ever-changing educational environment.

I enjoy family and social history, gardening and pottering on construction projects and, until recently, volunteered on a sail training tall-ship, built to cater for the disabled, which took me to some amazing places with some inspirational people.

Having worked as a biochemist for many years, I trained as a teacher and after being in two other schools, joined Dunchurch in 2017 teaching in Year 3, then Year 5, and currently in Year 4.  I became the Federation staff governor in 2018 and have enjoyed being part of the governing body, which has given me a wider insight into how both schools operate and all the work involved behind the scenes in making them such special places for children to learn and grow in, such as finance and safeguarding.  As Science lead for the Juniors, I particularly enjoy inspiring children to develop a curiosity about the world and how things work, and I also have the rewarding role of mentoring one of our Early Career Teachers.
