Our Nursery

WELCOME TO NURSERY

Our Nursery offers excellent, term time only, Early Years Education for children from the age of 2 years 9 months, to when they go into Reception class.  Our fully qualified team of 12 , offer the children a warm, welcoming and secure environment with a routine appropriate to their age and to which they can relate.  We are lucky enough to be integrated with Dunchurch Infant School which allows us to access all school facilities and equipment, such as the hall for PE, the library and the ICT suite.

Our Nursery is a purpose-built facility attached to the school with three classrooms, each benefiting from its own entrance and cloakrooms for children and parents.  We have a wonderful outdoor space, which allows children to develop their gross motor skills, as well as their imagination.

We work closely with the Reception classes, educating from the same Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. (Click here to find out more about EYFS)

During the children's time at Dunchurch Nursery, we take many photographs and observations to assess their learning, which we do through an online service called Evidence Me.  All of these observations are emailed to our parents on a monthly basis so that they can be included in their child's learning.  There is also an opportunity to contribute to the learning journals online.

We also seek to bring visitors into Nursery to reinforce the children's learning of the curriculum.  Examples include having firefighters and police officers come to talk to the children and having a ‘mobile farm’ bring farm animals into our outdoor area.  We also hope to offer the children the option of at least one school trip before the end of the academic year.

The curriculum is delivered through a range of creative, malleable, imaginative, mathematical, physical and social learning experiences, as well as encouraging the children’s early writing, letter recognition and reading.  These learning experiences are accessible to the children both indoors and out.

During the last half term before the children move from pre-school into Reception (if they have been offered a space) they will be given the opportunity to spend time in the Reception classrooms every week.  This ensures that the transition between the two is as smooth as it can be.
