New to the country
At Dunchurch Boughton CofE Infant Academy and Nursery, we warmly welcome children and families who are new to the country. We understand that starting school in a new place can feel exciting but also unfamiliar, and we are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, included, valued, and supported from their very first day.
Guided by our school vision, “Roots to grow, wings to fly,” we provide gentle, nurturing pathways that help children settle at their own pace, build trusting relationships, and develop a strong sense of belonging. We celebrate each child’s home language, culture, identity, and experiences as strengths that enrich our school community.
Through a structured settling-in process, emotional wellbeing support, communication in families’ home languages, buddy systems, and our EAL Progression Framework, we make sure every child can participate fully, thrive socially and academically, and develop confidence step by step.
We are proud to be an inclusive school where every child has the right to feel welcomed, understood, respected, and able to flourish.
If you have any questions or need support at any stage, please contact Mrs Hannah Owen (Inclusion lead) who is here to help every step of the way.
